Even though Robert Mueller didn’t charge President Trump and cuff him, he sure teed the evidence up for someone to do something about this guy. It’s almost as if Mueller thinks there is some other body, some branch of government that is actually set up to handle this sort of thing.
Granted, I was as frustrated as the next sane person that Trump wasn’t immediately indicted and frog-marched out of the White House. But that’s not how Mueller and this impeachment thing works, apparently. The special counsel made a point of saying that he was not going to throw around charges because it is Department of Justice policy to not criminally charge a sitting president. When he becomes un-sitting, that is another story.
Now that the redacted Mueller report lays out what appears to be evidence of a president obstructing justice, it’s up to Congress. Specifically, Democrats, because Republicans have been replaced by the Party of Protect Trump. The only thing that is needed now is for Democrats to care more about their constitutional duties than political polling and winning an election. (I’m all for additional investigations— hello, Rep. Elijah Cummings— but let’s begin the impeachment process, too.) Enjoy the cartoon, and join me over on Patreon to pick up some goodies and go behind-the-scenes!
