Ex-president Donald Trump’s ex-chief of staff, Mark Meadows, is in the hot seat of his own making. First, he agreed to testify before the January 6th House committee, then, he got cold feet after he had already handed over thousands of documents.
It may come as an absolute shock to you that there is something shady about Donald Trump’s new media and technology venture that now has Devin Nunes as its CEO. Trump is of course shouting from the rooftops (although not from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) that he is creating what will be the world’s best social network — and streaming entertainment service, and news network, and whatever else he thinks of.
As the omicron variant spreads across the world and COVID-19 keeps killing people around the world, Republican politicians in some states have started to pay people to NOT get vaccinated. Florida, Iowa, Kansas and Tennessee have decided it’s a good idea to cut unemployment checks for people who have been fired from their jobs because they didn’t comply with vaccine mandates. Anti-vaxxer? Here’s your check!
As bad as many things are, Little Suzie Newsykins realizes there really are some things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Topping her list (and mine), are COVID-19 vaccines and now, boosters! Thanks to the wonders of vaccines, we don’t have to hide from our family and friends this holiday season.
Donald Trump has yet another branding operation under way. This time rather than bad cologne or suspect bottled water, he’s trying to put his stamp on how executive privilege works. To quote Indigo Montoya, “you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
Republicans are going all-in with their battle against “critical race theory.” For the Party of Insurrection, critical race theory is a catch-all for anything they don’t like. It’s a lot like “cancel culture” and worrying about who uses what bathroom.
It’s not looking too good for the U.S. leading the world on the climate front. President Biden announced some measures at the recent COP26 climate conference but not what he hoped to unveil. The centerpiece of the climate portion of Biden’s Build Back Better agenda has been gutted.
Mark Zuckerberg is all fired up about the “metaverse,” which is basically a virtual reality version of Facebook on steroids. Never mind the fact that the $1 trillion (give or take) company is already under scrutiny for everything from helping launch an insurrection in the United States to human trafficking abroad.
Sigh. If only we could satisfy Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema’s unreasonable demands by stuffing their heads into virtual reality goggles. Then maybe Democrats could pass truly meaningful legislation that would do a world of good.
There is a huge wrench in the works of President Joe Biden’s signature domestic policy agenda and his name is Joe.
Senator Joe Manchin is blocking “Build Back Better” legislation in the name of being a really smart fiscal conservative just looking out for his West Virginia constituents. Surely the fact that he made his fortune and continues to make around $500,000 a year from the coal industry has nothing to do with his opposition to the climate change measures in the bill, right?
