The Alito flag(s) story keeps unfurling, now with spousal spit!
In case you missed one of the latest updates, the New York Times is reporting that Justice Samuel Alito’s wife, Martha-Ann Alito, allegedly spit in the general direction of her horrifyingly leftist anti-Trump neighbors.
(We are now just one short step away from hearing about a Monty Python level of dispute on the Alito front lawn.)
This would all be a funny non-story about a Supreme Court justice’s wife were it not for the fact that there were insurrectionary flags flying over Alito family houses that are home to a Justice who is deciding cases related to overthrowing a U.S. election.
Sorry, Samuel, you can’t claim you are a bastion of women’s liberation on this one.
Hours ago, Justice Alito unsurprisingly released a letter saying that he would not recuse himself from cases related to January 6.
The good husband stood up for his wife’s right to fly any right-winger, J6-supporting, civil war-y flag she wants while enjoying the warm breezes on the New Jersey coast.
What can he say, the wife loves her some flags!
Like all good flags, these flags are merely a symbol of very real and concrete things that Justice Alito and his right-winger pals have done or would like to do.
After all, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has an Appeal to Heaven flag hanging outside his office in the U.S. Capitol Building.
(Yes, that is the very building violent insurrectionists stormed while waving the same flag.)
Even though none of this bodes well for upcoming Supreme Court decisions and the future of our democracy, at least now the bias is out there for everyone to see, waving in the breeze.
