A former United States president, Donald J. Trump, is now a convicted felon.
It sure is nice to be able to write that sentence.
Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records — but not just any business records, as you’ve no doubt heard — business records that were tied into a criminal conspiracy to sway the election.
As much as Trump and his right-wing cronies may try, this was not just some minor accounting slip-up that a politicized district attorney (and supposedly Joe Biden) latched onto, it was a pretty big, illegal way to help win an election.
Now it looks as if Trumpworld doesn’t much want to talk about trials and crime-y things, including Hunter Biden’s trial. (But my cartoon Trump is happy to point out the dissimilar legal cases.)
Apparently Joe Biden’s evil, weaponized Department of Justice is so bent on Trump’s destruction it is also putting the current president’s son on trial. Huh?
Poof! There goes that argument. (Border terrorist invasion, anyone?)
Amid all the convoluted political spin from Trump and other Republicans, it’s nice to see that some things are constant . . . like a 34-count criminal indictment that slowly and methodically became a guilty verdict by a jury of 12 regular people.
