Remember back when doing Russia’s bidding meant extorting Ukraine over the phone?
That seems almost quaint now.
Now the leader of the Republican party says he would welcome a Russian invasion of NATO countries, Trump sycophants in the U.S. Congress want to cut Ukraine loose and top Republicans knowingly spread Russian disinformation in an attempt to smear (and impeach) Joe Biden.
Whether or not there is kompromat throughout the Republican Party, fealty to Trump now means fealty to Russia — and more specifically, Vladimir Putin.
It’s a tribal thing.
If you want to show your allegiance to Trump, you’d better support Russia over Ukraine and be willing to disseminate the latest anti-Biden conspiracy theory, no matter how shadowy the source.
And if you really want to please the Defendant-in-Chief, broadcast propaganda on Fox News about the magical wonders of Russia, particularly when compared to the apocalyptic hellhole that is the United States.
It’s not just a rematch between Trump and Biden, this election is replaying the very same themes that started way back in 2016, but on steroids.
